Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. Upper blepharoplasty treats the eyelids and lower blepharoplasty treats the under-eye area. Excess bags of fat and folds of skin are removed. The page also covers patients whose heavy eyelids make reading or working hard by the end of the day (source).
- On the upper eyelids the incision sits in the natural crease about 8-10 mm above the lashes. Excess skin, muscle and fat are trimmed, and the incision is closed with fine sutures passed below the skin.
- Blepharoplasty is usually done under general anesthesia at the Novi surgical facility.
- Preparation: no aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for two weeks either side of surgery; smokers stop two weeks before and one week after.
- Brow lift. All brow lifts are endoscopic, through small keyhole incisions behind the hairline. Small forehead muscles that cause furrows are released and the tissue is re-draped. Surgery takes under 1 to 2 hours under local or general anesthesia (source).
