Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Performed in the office under local anesthesia, with a mild sedative offered; the surgery takes about one hour. Tiny incisions follow the natural upper eyelid creases. Through them Dr. Karter removes or repositions excess skin and fat and tightens underlying muscles when needed, then closes with fine sutures (upper blepharoplasty).
  • Lower blepharoplasty. Dr. Karter uses a transconjunctival approach: a small incision inside the lower eyelid for fat removal and repositioning, with no external incision (lower blepharoplasty). Eye drops are included in the postoperative package to reduce dry eye.
  • Brow lift. Two small incisions hidden in the hairline at each temple; the brow is lifted and secured with absorbable sutures. Check-ins are scheduled at 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months and 1 year (brow lift).
  • Under eye filler. Hyaluronic acid filler placed with a cannula technique for tear trough hollows and dark circles (under eye filler).
  • After surgery the practice provides laser resurfacing treatments to refine incision lines. Dr. Karter gives patients his personal cell phone number.
  • The eyelid pages state blepharoplasty results can last 10 to 15 years or longer.

Galleries: upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty and brow lift. Case summaries on the procedure pages include patients treated for lateral hooding, upper eyelid heaviness and under-eye bags, several combined with deep plane facelift, deep neck sculpting or fat grafting.

Other procedures

The site lists deep plane facelift, deep plane neck lift, neck liposuction, primary and revision rhinoplasty, lip lift, chin implant, buccal fat removal, fat grafting and CO2 laser resurfacing, plus neuromodulators, fillers and skincare services (karterplasticsurgery.com).

Insurance and cost

  • The site publishes no prices and does not discuss insurance coverage for eyelid surgery.
  • Costs are tailored to the patient; an initial quote is given during a free phone consultation, and CareCredit financing is accepted (upper blepharoplasty).
  • A fully refundable 20% deposit secures a surgery date.

Recovery

  • Upper blepharoplasty: light activities within a few days; social engagements in about 10 to 14 days; final results over 2 to 3 months (upper blepharoplasty).
  • Lower blepharoplasty: light activities within a few days; social engagements in about 2 weeks; bruising and swelling are common the first few days (lower blepharoplasty).
  • Most patients manage discomfort with Tylenol or ibuprofen alone.
