Eyelid surgery work
The practice pages name no individual surgeon. The team page lists two surgeons, Kenton Schoonover, MD and Omar Elfanagely, MD (team).
- Eyelid surgery. Upper-lid incisions are placed in the eyelid crease. Lower-lid incisions are placed just below the lash line or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival approach). Excess fat, skin and muscle are removed or repositioned, and underlying tissues tightened if needed (blepharoplasty).
- Surgery is done under local or general anesthesia and closed with fine sutures.
- The page states that patients with ptosis may need a different surgery.
- Brow lift. A traditional brow lift uses an incision at or above the hairline; an endoscopic brow lift uses small incisions hidden in the hairline and a small camera. Surgery takes about one to two hours under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia (source).
The eyelid surgery gallery shows seven before-and-after images labeled "Eyelid Surgery," with no surgeon credited (source).
Insurance and cost
- "Upper eyelid surgery starts at $4,500, and lower eyelid surgery at $5,500"; the exact price depends on several factors (blepharoplasty).
- Brow lift surgery starts at $5,500 (source).
- Payment plans are listed on the site. It makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage.
Recovery
- Swelling, bruising and dry eyes improve within a few days; cold compresses in the first 48 hours (blepharoplasty).
- Sutures are typically removed within a few days.
- Most patients return to normal activities in about a week.
- Avoid eye makeup for two weeks and strenuous activity for about a month.
- Brow lift: light activity after two weeks, full recovery in four to six weeks, results lasting 10 years or more (source).
