Eyelid surgery work
His bio states he performs eyelid reconstruction for both medical and cosmetic reasons (source). The services page has a section titled "Cosmetic and Non-cosmetic Eyelid Surgery" (source):
- Blepharoplasty. Removes or repositions fat to reduce puffiness and trims excess skin. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty removes excess skin that can hang over the lashes.
- Lower eyelid blepharoplasty. In some cases the skin is tightened with laser resurfacing or a TCA chemical peel instead of being excised, and fat is removed or repositioned into the tear trough.
- Ptosis repair. Lifts the upper eyelids, usually by working on eyelid muscles that weaken with age. In the external approach the surgeon can also trim excess fat and skin; ptosis can also be repaired internally with no incision over the eyelid.
- Chalazion drainage and pterygium excision are listed on the same page.
The practice site has no before-and-after gallery page.
Other procedures
His bio lists cataract surgery, laser and iStent treatment for glaucoma, care for double vision and ocular misalignment from his pediatric training, and injection treatment for macular degeneration (source). The services page covers tear duct system evaluations, eye muscle surgery, corneal transplant evaluation, dry eye, diabetic retinopathy and eye emergencies (source). The center also offers SMILE, PRK and LASIK (source).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no eyelid surgery prices and makes no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery. The new-patient form on the contact page assigns Medicare and insurance benefits to Engstrom Eye Center (source).
