Eyelid surgery work
The practice has three surgeons: William L. Reno III, Paul J. Talbot and John Magruder Sullivan. The eyelid and brow pages describe the procedures for the whole practice and do not name a surgeon.
- Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). The page describes removing excess skin, muscle and fat from the eyelids to improve wrinkles and bulges. With progression, excess upper lid skin can cause visual problems. Incisions are typically placed in the upper lid crease and just below the eyelashes on the lower lid, extending just past the outer corner of the eye. The procedure can be done under general anesthesia or with sedation and local anesthesia (source).
- Forehead lift / brow lift. The page describes the procedure for drooping eyebrows and forehead wrinkles, often done together with a facelift or eyelid surgery. Incisions are commonly placed across the top of the head or just in front of the hairline; the muscles that cause wrinkling between the eyebrows are disrupted and excess skin is removed. It is typically done under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis (source).
Dr. Talbot's before-and-after gallery lists breast, body, laser skin resurfacing, face lift and nose cases and has no eyelid or brow category. The practice's eyelid lift gallery is credited to Dr. Reno.
Other procedures
The practice also offers ear tuck, facelift, FaceTite, facial implants, laser skin resurfacing, lip augmentation and nose surgery; breast augmentation, lift, reduction and reconstruction; tummy tuck, liposuction, body lift, BodyTite and other body procedures; non-surgical treatments; a medi-spa; and hormone therapy (source).
Insurance and cost
- "If a visual field obstruction is found, insurance will usually pay to have the upper lids corrected" (source).
- Patients evaluated for an insurance-covered procedure bring a photo ID and insurance card; co-payments are due at the appointment. The office accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover and offers CareCredit financing for surgical procedures (office page).
- The site publishes no prices.
Recovery
- Eyelid lift: some mild discomfort and some bruising are expected. Cool shields are placed over the eyes after surgery and kept cool for the next 24 hours; the head is kept elevated and someone should be available to help. The follow-up appointment is typically within one week (source).
- Brow lift: a dressing is applied around the entire head and changed the following day; bruising, swelling and mild discomfort are expected (source).
