Eyelid surgery work
- Standard blepharoplasty. Incisions follow the natural eyelid lines, in the upper lid crease and just below the lower lashes; skin is separated from fatty tissue, excess fat removed, and sagging skin/muscle trimmed (source).
- Transconjunctival blepharoplasty. Used when a fat pocket exists beneath the lower lid without a need to remove skin; incision is placed inside the lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar, typically for younger patients with thicker, elastic skin (same page).
- Surgery usually takes one to three hours depending on extent (same page).
Other procedures
Brow lift is offered alongside eyelid surgery (source).
Insurance and cost
No insurance, Medicare or price statements for eyelid surgery are published. The financing page mentions CareCredit financing only, with a 3.5% convenience fee on card transactions (source).
Recovery
- Sutures out. Typically removed within days 2 to 7 after surgery (source).
- Back to work. Most people return to work and public activities within 1 to 2 weeks (same page).
- Bruising. Generally lasts two weeks to a month (same page).
- Final result. Scars may remain slightly pink for six months or more (same page).
