Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper eyelid surgery. Dr. Waldman marks the lines and crease of the lids so the incisions sit along the natural folds, removes excess fat and loose skin, and closes with fine sutures (blepharoplasty).
  • Lower eyelid surgery. The incision is placed along the lash line and smile creases; excess fat, muscle and skin are trimmed.
  • Transconjunctival blepharoplasty. Lower lid fat is removed through an incision inside the eyelid, usually with no external incision; the page notes it is limited in tightening skin.
  • Fat sparing blepharoplasty. The page describes more conservative fat removal, and in some techniques repositioning of periorbital fat, to avoid a sunken look.
  • A phenol chemical peel of the lower lid is often recommended 2-3 months after blepharoplasty; laser resurfacing or Botox treats crow's feet.
  • Most blepharoplasties take one to two hours under local anesthesia with light intravenous sedation, in the practice's AAAASF-accredited office surgical facility.
  • Brow lift. Incisions run behind the hairline ear to ear, or along the hairline for patients with a receding hairline; in the endoscopic approach, small incisions behind the hairline are used to remove frown muscles and lift the brows (brow lift).
