Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. The natural eyelid crease is marked for the incision, excess skin is removed, and the underlying muscle and structures can be tightened before the incision is sutured.
- Lower blepharoplasty. Under-eye bags are treated by removing excess fat through incisions placed within the lower lid, which are not visible once healed.
- The page describes both cosmetic and functional benefit, including relief of drooping lids that block the field of vision, and lists risks of dry eyes, difficulty closing the eyes, infection and asymmetry.
- The site states he has performed more than 1,500 eyelid procedures and cites his oculoplastic fellowship training at PACES Plastic Surgery.
- Eyelid surgery is often combined with brow lift or facelift.
- Brow lift. Two methods: an endoscopic brow lift using a camera and smaller incisions, for less severe sagging, and a temporal brow lift with an incision across the scalp, for more severe drooping (source).
Galleries: eyelid before and after and brow lift before and after.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, deep plane facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, hairline lowering, lip lift, ear surgery and facial fat transfer, plus breast and body surgery and non-surgical skin treatments (drgrover.com).
Insurance and cost
- Blepharoplasty "can range from $8,500 to $20,000," depending on whether upper, lower or both lids are treated, the complexity, anesthesia fees and facility costs at Grover Surgical Arts (source).
- In some cases health insurance covers eyelid surgery when excess upper eyelid skin makes it hard to see; staff help with insurance questions and financing.
- Financing: CareCredit, ALPHAEON and PatientFi (financing).
Recovery
- First days: skin near the eyes feels tight and tender; pain medication is prescribed.
- Usual activities: after about a week and a half; the FAQ states most return to normal activities within 10 to 14 days.
- Third week: swelling and bruising are minimal; some patients resume make-up and contact lenses.
- Sixth week: final results are visible and most patients are fully recovered.
- Results can last seven to fifteen years.
