Eyelid surgery work
The eyelid surgery page describes blepharoplasty as surgical removal of excess skin and fat of the upper and/or lower eyelid:
- Performed under general anesthesia or under light sedation with local anesthesia; upper and lower eyelids can be treated separately or together. Dr. Farber or Dr. Shah selects the approach.
- Incisions sit in the natural creases and lines. Some patients are candidates for a transconjunctival approach, which reaches the fat without a skin incision.
- An eyelid tightening procedure may be needed when the lower eyelids are loose or sagging.
- Lower eyelid bags are treated by removing or repositioning fat.
- Surgery takes one to two hours and can be combined with a facelift or brow lift.
- Patients with severe dry eye are not advised to have elective eyelid surgery.
Brow lift. The brow lift page describes three techniques: endoscopic brow lift through two small scalp incisions with dissolvable Endotine implants, coronal brow lift through an incision behind the hairline, and temporal brow lift through two small incisions near the temple, often combined with an upper eyelid lift. Brow lift recovery is about two weeks.
Galleries. The eyelid gallery shows patient cases of upper blepharoplasty, combined upper and lower blepharoplasty, and blepharoplasty with facelift and neck lift; one case notes upper lid surgery under local anesthesia. Gallery cases do not name the operating surgeon. The brow lift gallery shows one case.
Other procedures
His bio lists facelift, neck lift, mini-facelift, lip lift, ear surgery, facial and chin implants, breast surgery, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, liposuction, arm and thigh lift, and post-weight-loss body contouring. He also performs reconstructive surgery after trauma or cancer (bio). The practice also offers hair restoration and injectables (source).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no eyelid or brow lift prices and makes no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage. The brow lift page states cost varies by patient and technique and is set at consultation.
Recovery
From the eyelid surgery page:
- Swelling and bruising: normal; an ice pack helps reduce it.
- Normal activities: within a few days; social activities in two weeks.
- Makeup: after one week.
- Eye strain: wait one week before reading or focusing on a screen.
- Glasses: right away if they do not rub suture lines; contact lenses after one week.
- Final result: lasts a long time; a repeat procedure may be needed years later.
