Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid lift. Performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation on the upper lids, lower lids or both; surgery lasts up to two hours when both are treated (eyelid lift).
- Upper blepharoplasty. An incision in the natural upper eyelid crease gives access to remove excess skin, muscle and fat.
- Lower blepharoplasty. Through an incision inside the lower eyelid, fat is removed or redistributed and muscle can be modified. An incision just below the lower lash line is used to remove excess skin. Laser resurfacing may be used to smooth lower lid skin.
- The page states drooping upper lid skin can block vision, and removing it can expand the field of vision.
- Brow lift. Options listed: the traditional open incision behind the hairline, the trichophytic incision along the hairline, and the lateral or temporal brow lift inside the hairline above the temples. Brow lifts are often combined with facelifts (brow lift).
Gallery: the eyelid lift gallery shows 8 before-and-after cases, each credited to Scott Sessions, M.D., including quad blepharoplasty with facial fat grafting (source). The site has no brow lift gallery and no separate page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site offers facelift, neck lift with a double plication technique, neck liposuction, rhinoplasty and ear surgery, breast augmentation, lift, reduction and revision, gynecomastia, tummy tuck, liposuction, Brazilian butt lift, arm and thigh lift, labiaplasty, Botox, Juvederm and laser skin resurfacing (procedures).
Insurance and cost
The eyelid and brow lift pages state no prices and say nothing about insurance or Medicare coverage. The eyelid cost FAQ states the cost depends on whether the upper lids, lower lids or both are treated, and that Dr. Sessions discusses estimated costs once a treatment plan is set. The practice accepts many payment methods and helps patients find low-interest financing (financing).
Recovery
- Most patients get around independently by the second day; with sunglasses, a trip to the store by days 3-4.
- Back to work: with makeup, by days 5-7.
- Bruising: subsides in about 10 days. Swelling: abates in 2-4 weeks.
- Exercise: no aerobic or vigorous activity for the first two weeks; weight lifting and contact sports usually not for one month; slow walking from the second day.
- Scars: incision lines refine and fade for about one year.
- Brow lift: sleep upright for 3-4 nights; full recovery about three weeks (brow lift).
