Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid surgery. Removes excess skin, muscle and sometimes fat from the upper eyelids. Incisions follow the natural creases of the upper eyelids; loose skin is trimmed and fat and muscle are repositioned or removed when needed. Performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia; surgery takes one to two hours. The page states upper eyelid surgery can improve peripheral vision obstructed by sagging lids (source).
- Lower eyelid surgery. Treats under-eye bags, puffiness, wrinkles and dark circles. Incisions are placed just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid (transconjunctival approach); excess fat is removed or repositioned and loose skin trimmed or tightened. Incisions are closed with fine sutures or left to heal naturally, depending on technique (source).
- Eyelid surgery can be combined with upper or lower eyelid surgery, facelift, brow lift, Botox or dermal fillers.
- Brow lift. Two techniques are described: endoscopic brow lift through small incisions behind the hairline with a camera, and the classic (coronal) brow lift with an incision across the top of the head within the hairline. Results can last 10 to 15 years (source).
