Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Targets drooping excess skin of the upper eyelid and fat pads around the eyes; removing the excess skin reduces the hooded appearance and tightens the skin (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Tiny incisions placed below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid depending on whether excess skin is present; removes fat and sagging skin, with canthopexy used to tighten the outer corner of the eye. Performed under local anesthetic and sedation, same-day, one to two hours (source).
- A before-and-after case description on the practice's page notes a patient who had transconjunctival fat removal with fat grafting of the tear trough and cheek, combined with upper-lid skin removal and fat grafting (same page).
Other procedures
The practice offers facelift (including deep plane and mini facelift), brow lift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, chin implants, ear surgery, breast procedures, body contouring, and non-surgical skin treatments (drpautler.com).
Insurance and cost
No insurance or Medicare statement for eyelid surgery is published. Published price ranges: upper blepharoplasty $3,000-$7,500; lower blepharoplasty $5,000-$7,000, both stated to vary with surgeon experience, extent of surgery, and additional procedures.
Recovery
- Sutures out. Removed in the office six to seven days after upper blepharoplasty.
- Exercise. Light exercise resumes one week after surgery; strenuous exercise avoided two to three weeks.
- Back to work. Most patients return around 10-14 days after surgery.
- Swelling. Bruising and swelling expected the first few days, with maximum discomfort in the first week.
