Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). The page describes lifting sagging or droopy upper eyelids and treating lower eyelid puffiness, wrinkles and sagging; in some cases the surgery restores a field of vision blocked by drooping lids (eyelid lift).
- Incisions are made along the natural lines and creases of the eyelids to remove excess skin, fat and muscle if indicated, then closed with fine sutures. The surgery takes one to three hours, as an outpatient procedure under general or local anesthesia.
- Upper and lower lids can be done at the same time; the page calls this an ideal combination.
- Transconjunctival blepharoplasty. Used for younger patients with good skin elasticity who have a pocket of fat under the lower eyelid but no skin to remove; the incision is inside the lower eyelid (eyelid lift FAQs).
- Candidates are typically in their late thirties and upward. Patients with thyroid disease, Graves' disease, dry eye, circulatory or cardiovascular disease, diabetes, detached retina or glaucoma are advised to consult their ophthalmologist.
- Facelift, mini facelift, laser surgery, Botox or fillers may be combined with blepharoplasty.
The site's before-and-after page has no eyelid or brow category (source), and the site has no brow lift page.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, breast surgery, tummy tuck, liposuction and SmartLipo, body contouring, male breast reduction, hair transplant, and non-surgical skin treatments (source).
Insurance and cost
- "Blepharoplasty is usually deemed cosmetic unless the original indication for surgery was for visual field obstruction or ptosis." The office works with the patient's insurance company to determine benefits (eyelid lift).
- Price: upper or lower eyelid lift begins at $4,400; the cost may be higher depending on surgery length. The price list states "$4400.00+ Starting Cost for upper or lower" (price list).
- Consultations are complimentary.
Recovery
- Bruising and swelling resolve over ten to fourteen days.
- Limited activity for three to five days; avoid strenuous activity for one to two weeks.
- Sunglasses outdoors; SPF 15 or higher for the first six months.
- Scars may stay slightly pink for six months or longer, then fade to a thin white line.
- Results are intended to be permanent; if droopiness returns with aging, maintenance surgery is likely not needed for at least five to ten years.
