Eyelid surgery work
The eyelid page (source) states:
- Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin and fat through incisions in the natural creases of the eyelids. It is usually elective, but it can have functional benefits when drooping skin interrupts the visual field.
- Lower eyelid surgery reduces bags, puffiness and dark circles and smooths the lid-to-cheek transition. Incisions sit just below the lash line or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival). Skin, fat and muscle are removed or repositioned, and fine sutures close the incisions.
- In some patients, lower lid blepharoplasty is done as reconstructive surgery to correct lower lid retraction or laxity from trauma, burns, facial fractures, aging or skin cancer.
- Surgery is outpatient, under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. An eye examination with an ophthalmologist may be advised before surgery.
- Blepharoplasty can be combined with brow lift, facelift or neck lift. PRP can be applied during surgery to aid healing.
Brow lift. The brow lift page (browlift) describes endoscopic, temporal (lateral), direct and coronal (open) brow lifts. These are outpatient procedures under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation and can be combined with blepharoplasty.
Galleries: the eyelid gallery lists 9 cases (results eyelid). The brow lift gallery lists 1 case (results brow lift).
Other procedures
The site lists rhinoplasty, facelift, neck lift, ear surgery and Kybella. It also lists breast surgery including breast reconstruction, body procedures, gynecomastia, injectables, PRP, skin cancer treatment and mole removal (source).
Insurance and cost
- In most cases blepharoplasty is elective cosmetic surgery and "is not eligible for coverage by medical insurance." When droopy eyelid skin interrupts the visual field, "functional blepharoplasty may be covered" (source).
- Cost depends on the treatment plan and is reviewed at consultation; the site publishes no eyelid price.
Recovery
- Swelling and bruising subside gradually; discomfort is managed with medication and cold compresses.
- Most patients resume non-strenuous activity and return to work within about a week.
- Eye ointment and drops are prescribed; strenuous activity is avoided for a few weeks.
- The final result is visible once swelling resolves, usually within three to six months.
