Eyelid surgery work

  • Blepharoplasty. The eyelid page describes removing excess skin, fat or muscle from the upper and lower eyelids, and states most patients have both done at the same time. Listed goals are reduced upper lid drooping, removal of lower lid bags and a smaller tear trough groove (source).
  • Upper eyelid. The incision runs in the natural crease from the inner corner of the eye to slightly beyond the outer corner, and excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. Both upper lids take about 30 minutes.
  • Lower eyelid. He describes a septal reset through an incision just under the lash line. Lower lid fat is moved over the orbital rim instead of removed, to soften the tear trough. Lower lid surgery takes 45 to 90 minutes.
  • Asian eyelid crease. The page states eyelid surgery can add an eyelid crease to Asian eyes without altering evidence of ethnic or racial heritage.
  • Setting and anesthesia. Surgery is outpatient, at his Manhattan office or a local surgery center, under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia when combined with a facelift.
  • Combined procedures. He often performs eyelid surgery together with a brow lift or facelift.
  • Forehead lift (brow lift). Three techniques: endoscopic (camera-assisted, smaller incisions), coronal (incision hidden within the hairline) and temporal (outer brow only). The page states a forehead lift can reduce some eyelid sagging and may be combined with eyelid surgery (source).
  • Gallery. The eyelid surgery gallery holds 13 before-and-after cases of women and men aged 36 to 80, including upper, lower and combined eyelid surgery (source).

The site has no separate page for ptosis repair, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.

Other procedures

The site lists facelift (deep plane, lower, Naturalift mini facelift), neck lift, facial contouring, chin augmentation, buccal fat removal, cheek liposuction, lip lift and facial fat transfer, plus breast and body surgery, CO2 laser and injectables (drsterry.com).

Insurance and cost

  • The practice does not participate in insurance plans or networks, per the financing FAQ (financing).
  • Financing is offered through CareCredit.
  • The site publishes no prices for eyelid surgery or brow lift.

Recovery

  • Recovery takes about a week for the upper eyelids and 10 days for the lower eyelids (source).
  • By two or three weeks most people look refreshed; cover-up makeup is used for the lower lids during that period.
  • Forehead lift: swelling and bruising subside in 1 to 2 weeks; most patients return to light activities within 7 to 10 days; results can last 10 to 15 years (source).
