Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelids. Dr. Hobgood marks the lids, places the incision in the natural upper eyelid crease, removes excess fat and skin, and closes with ultrafine sutures. Average time is listed as 1 hour.
- Lower eyelids. He may use the transconjunctival method, with the incision on the inner surface of the lower lid. When skin removal is needed, incisions are hidden under the lashes. He often preserves natural fat and repositions it into the tear troughs. Laser or chemical peel may tighten wrinkled lower lid skin. Lower lid surgery with fat transfer is listed at 1.5 hours; combined upper and lower at 2 hours.
- Anesthesia. Local anesthesia for simple upper and lower procedures; general anesthesia for more extensive ones.
- Eyelid surgery is often combined with brow lift, facelift, fat transfer, chemical peel or CO2 laser.
- Brow lift. Generally performed endoscopically through about four small incisions behind the hairline, with tissue secured by dissolving clips or sutures; about two hours. Patients with only lateral brow droop may be offered a lateral subcutaneous brow lift with a hairline incision (source).
Galleries: the blepharoplasty gallery shows 12 cases, several combined with deep plane facelift, endoscopic forehead lift and CO2 laser (source). A brow lift gallery is also posted (source).
Other procedures
The practice offers deep plane, SMAS imbrication and mini facelift, the One Touch Restore Facelift, neck lift, primary, ethnic and revision rhinoplasty, cheek and chin augmentation, facial fat transfer, lip advancement and laser resurfacing (toddhobgood.com).
Insurance and cost
- The practice does not perform "the more limited procedures covered by insurance companies" and refers those patients to oculoplastic surgery colleagues (blepharoplasty).
