Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid surgery. The page covers three types: upper blepharoplasty, which removes excess skin and fat and may improve vision blocked by drooping lids; lower blepharoplasty for puffiness, bags and excess skin; and combined upper and lower blepharoplasty (source).
- Procedure: IV sedation or general anesthesia. Upper lid incisions sit in the natural crease; lower lid incisions are just below the lash line or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival technique). Excess skin and fat are removed or repositioned and muscles may be tightened. Incisions close with sutures or surgical adhesive.
- The page states sagging lids may relate to the brows or to eyelid muscle problems (ptosis), and Dr. Rau evaluates whether eyelid surgery alone or a combined approach fits. Eyelid surgery may be combined with brow lift or facelift.
- Brow lift. Dr. Rau repositions the forehead and brow tissues using an endoscopic brow lift (small incisions in the hairline with a camera), a coronal brow lift (incision across the scalp within the hair) or a hairline brow lift for patients with high foreheads. Performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia (browlift).
