Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid. The page describes excision of a strip of skin, usually removal of a strip of orbicularis oculi muscle, then opening the orbital septum to trim the two upper-lid fat pads. Brow lift is occasionally added when a low brow adds to upper-lid heaviness (eyelid).
- Lower eyelid. Excess skin is removed through an incision directly below the eyelashes, closed with dissolvable sutures, or in selected patients reduced with laser resurfacing. The three lower-lid fat pockets are approached through the inside of the lid (transconjunctival blepharoplasty) or an external incision. In younger patients, transconjunctival fat removal leaves no external scar.
- Revision. The page states revisional eyelid surgery is uncommon; the usual issue is lower-lid position, often corrected with conservative treatment and occasionally with a revision.
- Brow lift. Two basic types are described: open (coronal or along the hairline) and endoscopic, using three incisions of 1 to 2 inches. A hairline incision can lower a high hairline while elevating the brow (source).
The eyelid gallery states its photos are patients of Dr. Zubowicz. Cases include upper and lower blepharoplasty, lower-lid fat transposed into the tear trough, upper-lid surgery in the office under oral sedation and local anesthesia, secondary upper blepharoplasty, and upper-lid surgery with epicanthal fold correction (source). The brow lift gallery shows an endoscopic brow lift case (brow gallery).
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, cheek and chin implants, buccal fat reduction, breast and body surgery, CO2 laser, chemical peels, injectables and IPL (source).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no eyelid surgery price and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage.
Recovery
- Sutures out: about 5 days, after which make-up can be used.
- Normal activities: most patients resume them in about a week, sometimes with make-up or glasses.
- Laser resurfacing of the lids also takes about 5 days, and the area stays pink for several weeks.
