Eyelid surgery work

  • Evaluation. Consultation includes margin reflex distance and levator function; the pre-operative visit includes visual field testing, eyelid measurements and photography. Surgery is done under local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia when combined with other procedures.
  • Upper blepharoplasty. The crease is marked so that about 20 mm of skin remains between the brow and lash margin. The incision may be made with a scalpel, CO2 laser or radiofrequency instrument. Excess skin, orbicularis muscle and protruding preaponeurotic and nasal fat are removed.
  • Lower blepharoplasty. The incision is placed beneath the lower lash line or inside the lid through a transconjunctival approach. Fat may be removed, redistributed or repositioned to smooth the lid-cheek junction.
  • Upper and lower surgery can be done in one session. The page lists functional blepharoplasty for dermatochalasis that obstructs the visual field, and states that the documentation differs from a cosmetic case.
  • Brow lift. Endoscopic (small incisions behind the hairline with a camera), coronal (ear to ear across the scalp) and temporal or anterior-hairline approaches, under IV sedation or general anesthesia (brow lift).

Galleries: the eyelid surgery gallery holds 27 cases of upper and lower blepharoplasty, including laser eyelid lift, performed by Dr. Banthia. The brow lift gallery holds eight cases.
