Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. The incision is placed in the natural crease. Loose skin and excess fat are removed and lax muscle is tightened, correcting upper lid hooding.
  • Lower blepharoplasty. The incision is generally hidden on the inside of the lower eyelid; excess fat is repositioned to smooth eye bags, and lax skin can also be treated.
  • The page states incisions are made internally, within the lower lash line, or along the upper lid fold, depending on technique.
  • Surgery is outpatient under local, sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Schooler may recommend a brow lift with blepharoplasty, depending on the extent and location of hooding.
  • Brow lift. Under general anesthesia, or local anesthesia with IV sedation. Incisions are placed behind the ear or within the hairline. In the endoscopic approach, a few small incisions behind the hairline and a camera are used to remove excess skin and fat and realign the muscle layer; the procedure takes one to two hours (brow lift).

Gallery: the eyelid surgery gallery shows five patients; one case describes a 51-year-old woman five months after upper and lower eyelid surgery. The site has no brow lift gallery.

The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.

Other procedures

The practice centers on breast augmentation, breast lift, implant exchange, breast reconstruction and revision, tummy tuck, Mommy Makeovers and body contouring after weight loss. It also offers facelift, fat transfer, hand surgery and med spa services (plastic surgeon bio).

Insurance and cost

  • "In certain cases wherein drooping eyelids obstruct a patient's vision, medical insurance may be able to provide partial or full coverage for eyelid surgery" (eyelid surgery).
  • Cost depends on whether upper and lower lids are treated and on the extent of surgery; a personalized quote is given after consultation. Financing through CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit. The site publishes no prices.

Recovery

  • Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common for a few days; ice and head elevation help.
  • Most patients return to work and daily routines in one week.
  • Strenuous activity is avoided for about one month.
  • Brow lift: light walking from day one, return to non-strenuous work within one week, some exercise after two weeks, and no vigorous activity for at least four weeks (brow lift).
