Eyelid surgery work
Eyelid patients are evaluated at the Pottstown office; eyelid surgery is performed at the Wayne surgical center (eyelid surgery).
- Upper blepharoplasty. Marking and removal of redundant skin, selective removal or contouring of fat, and closure with fine sutures in the eyelid crease, as outpatient surgery (upper eyelid surgery).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Three approaches are named: transconjunctival (incision inside the lid, used for fat repositioning or removal without skin excision); skin-muscle (subciliary) incision just below the lash line when skin or muscle laxity is present; and fat repositioning to smooth the lid-cheek transition and avoid a hollow look (lower eyelid surgery).
- Double eyelid surgery. Creates or refines an upper lid crease, treats asymmetry or revises a prior operation. Techniques: suture (non-incisional) for thinner skin, incisional for thicker skin or more complex anatomy, and a sub-brow approach in selected patients. The page also describes medial canthoplasty for the epicanthal fold and lateral canthoplasty for the outer corner (Asian eyelid surgery).
- Brow lift. Endoscopic technique with several short incisions in the scalp, or an open approach with a longer incision in the hair-bearing scalp; can be combined with upper eyelid surgery (brow lift).
