Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper eyelid lift. An incision in the natural crease of the upper lid; fat may be removed or redistributed. The page states that removing too much fat can create a hollow eyelid (blepharoplasty).
  • Lower eyelid lift. When excess skin is not an issue, a transconjunctival approach places all incisions inside the lower eyelid. Fat can be released and repositioned to reduce puffiness or restore volume. Patients who need skin removed have an incision just below the lower lid.
  • Anesthesia and setting. Eyelid surgery is typically done under intravenous sedation, with general anesthesia as an option, in a certified surgical center.
  • Brow lift. The brow lift page describes incisions behind or in front of the hairline, an anterior hairline option to shorten the forehead, and an endoscopic brow lift through short hairline incisions. A brow lift may be combined with blepharoplasty.
  • The blepharoplasty FAQ states that upper blepharoplasty results last an estimated five to 10 years and that lower blepharoplasty results are considered permanent.

Galleries. The eyelids gallery shows five patient cases and the brow lift gallery shows one. The cases do not name a surgeon.

Other procedures

The site offers facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, chin and cheek augmentation, breast reconstruction, cosmetic breast and body surgery, keloid and skin cancer repair, and injectables (source).

Insurance and cost

  • The blepharoplasty FAQ states that if drooping eyelids impact vision and health, surgery may be covered by insurance, and advises contacting the insurer (blepharoplasty).
  • Health insurance policies typically do not cover brow lift surgery (brow lift).
  • The site publishes no eyelid surgery price. Cost depends on facility, anesthesia and surgeon fees; financing is offered through CareCredit.

Recovery

Per the blepharoplasty page:

  • Back to work: most patients return to work and normal activities within two weeks.
  • Full recovery: four to six weeks.
  • Swelling and bruising: expected in the first week; rest with the head elevated for several days.
  • Sutures: usually removed about a week after surgery; dissolvable stitches may be used.
  • Exercise: resumed only with the surgeon's permission.
